The 2026 SA Interventional Cardiology Symposium brings together a strong faculty of interventional cardiologists across South Australia, with excellent engagement through an enhanced scientific program, case-based discussions, interactive workshops, and multidisciplinary participation. A key highlight of this year’s meeting is the confirmed participation of our international guest speaker, Dr Saqib Chowdhary (Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Manchester, UK), who will deliver expert insights into contemporary complex coronary and structural interventions.

International Guest Speaker
Dr Saqib Chowdhary
Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Manchester, UK
Dr Chowdhary graduated medicine from St Thomas’ Hospital, London UK in 1990. He got his PhD from the University of Birmingham, UK in 2002 and won the British Cardiac Society’s young investigator of the year in 2003. He trained in interventional cardiology in Birmingham and Coventry, UK and in Toronto, Canada. He was appointed as an interventional cardiologist in a tertiary centre in Manchester, UK in 2006.
He co-founded the first TAVI service in the North of the UK in 2007. He was an early adopter of IVUS and OCT and has driven education in these modalities in the UK for 20 years. His annual multi-disciplinary course in intra-coronary imaging (run for the last 18 years) has been adopted by the UK national PCI society (the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society – BCIS). He has written an image based exam in intra-coronary imaging which was launched by BCIS in the UK in March and which will be available again at the end of this year in the UK and internationally.
